So, I had a bad day, and despite the fact I had so much more to do, I decided just to do a couple quick projects.
My last post here asked people what they do when they don't have a bunch of crafting stuff, but they do have a lot of...stuff. So, here's a birthday card, made completely of whatever I found around me.
( Birthday card! )
I also made a journal. I disassembled three of my notebooks from school. I'm working on combining my notes from all my classes into larger books like "European History", "Other History Classes The Stupid Department Made Me Take", "Math and Science" and "Other Humanities". I'm a bit of a pack-rat, and I just want to save the information I have right now, but I hate the way a whole bunch of notebooks look on a shelf. This is just the blank pages from the ends of the notebooks - I'm trying to put my notes together better before binding them.

If anyone can give me info about leather etching?
I'm interested in making some leather ID bracelets, since it's the only thing I can really wear besides gold!!
:]
Also,
places to get beautiful feathers that aren't TOO expensive? I've checked some local craft stores; all I can find is the same feathers I have or tackily dyed guinea feathers or cheap throw away feathers.
Thanks ladies:]
CHOLA AMIGOZ.

OKAY now down to business. My uncles grammy used to make these neat crochet handles on dishtowels.

does anyone have a pattern for something like this?
I know i could easily freehand it, but I wanna know if something else much prettier exists.
THANKS GUISE.
Can anyone please tell me how to shorten a skirt from the waist? I recently thrifted 3 ankle length skirts that are hand beaded on the bottom with an elastic waist. I am short and the length is very unflattering on me so I need some help in shortening it. Or if you know any website that can teach me to do this? Thanks! :)
Due to thunderstorms that are supposed to continue all day, I'm forced inside to make stuff to keep myself entertained.
I figured I'd update here with some new stuff too.
Check it out!

So I'm following a pattern and it tells me to "knit into the back of the stitch". What does that mean? Am I missing something obvious?
Hello all! This is my first time posting in this community, and I am a novice knitter (mostly scarves and half finished socks for me!), but I recently figured out how to make mitered squares, and I am half way done with a blanket, and I wanted to show it to you!
The pattern that I used was called "Kim Chi" as seen here : http://www.berroco.com/238/238_kimchi_pv.h
I knitted with a size 10.5 needle using Plymouth Yarn: Encore Colorspun Chunky: Ocean Print, which I am VERY MUCH in love with. (http://www.kyarns.com/plymouth-encore-c
The camera doesn't really show the richness of it, but it is deep purple, green and blue, blended together <3
If a pattern says "work x each row every row six times", does that mean six ws rows and six rs rows (total of 12) or three rows each (total six)
Thanks! =)
Well I haven't sewn since I was about 12, but I am getting frustrated with nothing fitting unless I go to the seamstress. Then about 3 months back my mom bought a sewing machine from HSN. She still had not unboxed it last week so I borrowed it from her to get some use out of it.
So I have this scary new singer and haven't used a machine made since the 1930's ever (more then a variable length straight stitch being possible is kinda freaky to me). I have some muslin and I have some black canvas that we are using as tablecloths that I wanna hem.
Yea, not real complex yet, but if someone could make some suggestions as to where to start or point to some easy projects I would be most grateful.
Hello! I thought I'd post a pic of my work in progress. I am using Noro Silk Garden and size five needles. At this point, I am not sure how many skeins I have used/will use as I have been picking them up along the way, so as to decrease the shock of the cost, lol.
(I think I am a serious Noro-holic...I just bought yarn for Knitty's Rosedale)
behind the cut is a my blanket in progress.
x-posted to my journal

Rainbow Brights - lampwork beads.
I'm currently near the end of my Japanese Kimono Shawl from Folk Shawls, just finishing the last repeat and then a garter stitch boarder and I'm done. The problem is, I've knitted it out of sport weight euroflax linen yarn at a nice loose gauge and I'm not quite sure how to weave in the ends so they stay put and don't wiggle out of place. All my previous experience with cotton, linen and hemp yarns have been at a tighter gauge, and all my lace knitting has been out of yarn with mohair in it which holds the ends in nicely. Anyone have any good suggestions?
I like socks. and I wanted to try to make some stitch markers.

Yup. a whole bunch of it. And finally got around to documenting it.
These yarns I’d made recently that fall squarely into the “alt” or "artyarn" category… and were made using reflective yarn, and ribbons, a whole bridesmaid dress, a freakton of garment labels and washing instructions, a faux hermes scarf, faux fur, tulle, and “Stryper: To Hell With The Devil” cassette tape. Woot!
( many pics behind the cut. )

he is made from a Tunisian crochet in the round, where i did a traditional Tunisian circle and then i tried a few rounds of Tunisian "in the round" using 3 crochet hooks.
it was a little difficult to wrangle but it can work. 4 hooks would be better i think, or a flexible afghan hook, but i cant actually get those anywhere here.
he proved a little hard to photograph as well, so you cant see his tentacles very well, or the detail around his edge of the body. oh well.

as always there is no pattern, just an idea that developed as i went along.
i really didnt want to make a jellyfish as it seems a crocheting cliche, but thats what he wanted to be ;p
I have not posted here in ages but someone reminded me yesterday that I needed to do so with my newest reations.

My better half brought home a promo travel mug that was clear amber and it just screamed "steampunk' so I tricked it out..steampunk inspired.
( That inspired me to make some coffe cup sleeves. )
