Hmm.

What do you all think, having seen what passes for my art skills? Do I have a chance? And would anyone like to help me with a little brainstorming?

Consider this a short precursor to a massive "science in the arts/crafts" post. Links and such relevant to that topic would be much apperciated- I've got a bunch already, but this is the internet. There's always more out there.

Have you ever had someone in the so-called “real world” let you know they’ve found your blog, and even though you’ve not tried to hide it –even though you told them about it- you find yourself suddenly glaring sidelong at your keyboard with uneasy distrust? Yeah, so have I. How strange, huh?

So.

So. To business.

I’ve never considered myself an artist, but I do like to doodle here and there. In fact, my love affair with drawing extends back further than any other creative outlet but writing- further than knitting, further than sewing, further than jewelry. I remember very specifically the first moment I looked at drawing as something I could do: I was on visitation with my father in DC and had nothing whatsoever to amuse myself during the days. Walking through a store, I tremulously picked up a small sketchbook and a box of thin Crayola markers and asked, sure I would be turned down, if I could have them. The first thing I drew was a sea serpent, sharp-faced and be-horned in yellow and purple.

Things haven't changed much. )
